Last Thursday we did a day trip to the Centre Pompidou à Metz. It’s an hour drive, but so worth it. I have no clue why I didn’t come up with the idea of going there earlier. Great exhibition, awesome building and it’s also free for all students under 26. Gotta love the french idea of convincing their young inhabitants to go see some art. You really need a lot of time, its huge, and we didn’t even get to see everything ( the third floor was closed, due to problems with the roof, too much snow this winter ). It’s not at all a copy of the Paris museum, even though they also exhibit modern art. They had a store on display, called Ben’s shop, I remember seeing it at the Centre Pompidou in Paris winter 2003. But besides that everything new for me. And I had the chance to visit the Paris centre a lot this summer.
So I definitely recommend going there, even though it’s not the closet museum. But you know: C’est dure, la culture!
